Winnipeg, Man.—Daniel Friesen graduated from high school in Afghanistan, developed vocational training programs in Lebanon, and specialized in solar energy design. Now he is bringing his diverse experiences to his new position as executive director of Mennonite Central Committee Manitoba. Friesen lived in Afghanistan for 10 years while his parents worked there with Mennonite Brethren missions. After obtaining a degree in renewable energy engineering, he worked with the Navajo Nation in New Mexico under the Christian Reformed World Relief Committee. Eventually he became a North American administrator for that organization. He succeeds Ken Reddig as MCC Manitoba director.

From MCC Canada release

Elmira, Ont.—Dale and Miriam Bauman will be church planters in Brampton, Ontario, with the Mennonite Brethren church, beginning October 1. They will develop small groups which will form the core of a multicultural church. The project is part of Love Toronto, an initiative of the Ontario and Canadian MB conferences. Dale, former pastor of the Elmira Mennonite Church, has been a consultant for Evangelism and New Church Development with the Mennonite Mission Network of Mennonite Church USA for several years. They will work with Femi and Sade Fatunmbi who have planted churches in Nigeria, England and Los Angeles, the last one with the Pacific Southwest Conference of MC USA.

From Mennonite Brethren Herald

Hanover, Ont.—Leo Martin and Rudy Derksen, turn the sod for an addition and renovations at Hanover Mennonite Church in Ontario on July 28. They are co-chairs of the building committee.
